Basic Position Objective Statement: Provide staffing for seasonal employment needs during peak vacation periods in the mill. Work within various departments in the mill to support them with their tasks as needed.
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Work within various departments in the mill to perform various entry level tasks in a support role safely and identify unsafe behaviors, areas and methods. Complete and maintain productions records bother manually and with computer systems to maintain inventory control. Assist with the manufacture and shipment of quality finished projects that meets or exceed established production standards. Perform clean-ups as required. Maintain a clean, organized, “set in order” and “shine” environment in the work areas. Perform general miscellaneous functions and other jobs as assigned by crew managers or other members of management.

Knowledge, Education and Training Qualifications and Certifications: High school graduate or GED. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Basic math skills. Ability to learn basic computer operation skills. Ability to read and comprehend safety and instruction manuals. Must be minimum of 18 years old. Preference is given to those enrolled/attending a secondary education Preference is given to those related to current Little Rapids employees
Key Performance Competencies: Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a culture defined by LRC’s core values of achievement, teamwork, innovation and respect. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Regular attendance at work is required. Ability to work additional hours during the week or on weekends may be required. Ability to safely operate a towmotor. Must be able to safely use basic tools including wrenches, hammers, utility knives, screwdrivers, brooms and measuring devices in rules and scales.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb a ladder up to 21 feet high. Frequency: approximately 3 – 4 times per hour, 1 – 2 shifts per week. Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 75# up to 60 times/day every day. Must be able to stretch, reach, bend, stoop, twist, and crawl up to 8 hours/day every day. Must be able to work in hot and humid environment Dusty and dirty (paper dust and dirt) Exposure to loud environments – maximum of 105 dB in certain machine areas. Must be able to work any shifts, 7 days a week. Must be capable of wearing safety equipment: ear, eye, feet required at all times; other personal protective gear as needed (boots, aprons, gloves, faceshields, googles, wet suits, respirators, etc.) Ability to follow instructions for safety and proper job performance. Must be able to communicate verbally through regular conversation and shouting (in loud environments), and the use of hand signals (frequently as needed). Must be able to walk and stand approximately 10 hours per shift. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs up to 30 times per shift. Must be able to visually inspect machinery and processes on a continual basis. EOE including disability/veteran
