Basic Position Objective Statement:

Accountable for sourcing, negotiation, and overall procurement for Shawano Specialty Papers, with an emphasis on specialty fiber and pulp required for continuous operations. Manage the cost effectiveness and system efficiency associated with sourcing and procurement of raw materials, energy, manufacturing supplies, and recurring services required to support the business.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

·         Strategic sourcing and procurement of specialty fiber and pulp, energy, raw materials and services to support the continued growth of the business

·         Design, implement, and monitor all sourcing strategies and policies to ensure achievement of business objectives with a focus on lowering total cost in use and reliable supply of materials and services

·         Develop, nurture, and maintain cooperative supplier relationships to ensure availability of materials and services

·         Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Product Innovation teams to identify raw material sourcing options and total cost in use reduction opportunities

·         Collaborate with Quality team to ensure raw material specifications are met and aligned with product and customer requirements

·         Manage non-conforming materials and services issues through supplier engagement

·         Manage supplier conformance to product safety and product stewardship requirements as defined by customer needs and product certifications

·         Ensure that raw material procurement strategies align with corporate environmental sustainability goals, claims and certifications

·         Manage, track, and keep current sustainability certifications and requirements

·         Assist Manufacturing and Engineering teams as a resource for procurement of capital equipment and ongoing service contracts

·         Participate as a key member in the Shawano Specialty Papers leadership team

·         Empower and enable direct reports through developmental coaching and frequent communication

·         Other assignments as made by management

Knowledge, Education and Training Qualifications and Certifications:

·         B.S. in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience required

·         5+ years of experience in pulp and fiber procurement is highly preferred

·         Valid driver’s license required

 

Key Functional Competencies:

·         Procurement experience and demonstrated success in a manufacturing environment

·         Deep, practical knowledge of pulp and fiber properties, functions and supply sources

·         Experienced user of JD Edwards or comparable ERP systems

·         Well-developed negotiation skills

Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills to develop and maintain a high level of credibility

Travel Requirements:

·         Occasional travel nationally and internationally

 

Physical Requirements:

The ability to work in a normal manufacturing and office environment to include:  sitting, standing, or walking for long periods of time; climbing stairs; operating various standard office equipment; carrying paper documents/files; reaching; bending; crawling; speaking on the telephone; wearing required personal protection gear (i.e. hearing, eye and foot protection); tolerating loud noise (maximum of 95 dB); tolerating extreme heat, cold and dusty environment.
